Lost in Ink explores ideas of artistic fluidity, improvisation, and learning to let go of control. Inspired by the kinetic charcoal drawings of Heather Hansen, I have painted my own backdrops and photographed models against them, examining the human body and bringing the work and models together. I challenged myself in creating an interesting composition through total improvisation, and not planning the look of the end product. I also aimed to incorporate the movement of the subject with the movement of the piece itself. I wanted to explore not only how fluidly I could make work by exercising as less control as I could, but also to see the connection between physical art making and digital photography.
